Plant photos

The reference photo for each plant comes from a photographer who shared it with the GBIF community (the Global Biodiversity Information Facility) under a Creative Commons license. Open any plant in your garden and tap its photo to see who took it, its license, and a link to the original. Photos may be resized or re-compressed so they load quickly; the original is always reachable from that link.

Photos used on this website

The guides on this site illustrate their plant lists with the same library photos. Each one is credited here, which is how the licenses ask for it when the same photo appears in several places.

License details

Most plant photos are CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0); some are released to the public domain under CC0 1.0 (creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0); a few are CC BY 3.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0). Each photo's specific license is shown on that plant's page.

Your own photos

Any photo you take in the app (a plant's cover photo or a memory) is yours and stays private to your account. Those aren't part of these credits.
